Harmonic Damper/balancer rebuild.

Harmonic Damper/balancer rebuild.
So after searching for a "new" or very good used harmonic damper to put on my rebuilt engine I have given up looking for that unicorn. I sent my harmonic Damper to a guy in Oregon that rebuilds all sorts of dampers by hand with very strict tolerances. He offers a lifetime warranty on his rubber and uses a silicone that is resistant to all the stuff our beloved Rovers leak. He also grounds the damper to prevent static interference with the radio and prevent harmful electric discharge. He charges $130 plus $13.65 for shipping back to you. I shipped it to him in a medium priority mail flat rate box and that is how he sent it back. It was returned painted and spins so true its hard to tell it's turning. I chose him to do it because he had done other Rover and Jaguar dampers before with the D1 specifically being listed as a motor he has done. So the total cost with all shipping was $157.30. The name of the company is Dale Manufacturing. Here are picks of the finished one, the original from my motor, and the junkyard one I have been using while its been getting rebuilt.

The seal surface is as it was when I sent it to him. He does not touch the seal surface at all. Fortunately for me I did not have problems with mine leaking oil or anything despite there being a visible ring around the seal surface. When I rebuilt my motor I was told that a shim can be placed if there is really bad wear or leaking but I decided not too.
