Default Help and Suggestions?

I just got a 97 Land Rover used with 145k in Feb. its been running great since I got it, but this morning I was a mile away from the house and Land Rover SE 4.6 97, got where it would only get up to 10 mph and that was it. Any ideas on what might be wrong, the check engine light is not on yet. If I give it full throttle it will still only go 10 mph tops. Thanks for any suggestions and inputs..

First off, it should be a 4.0 V8 engine, unless it has been replaced. First thing I would check would be the fuel pressure. You may have a clogged fuel filter, or a fuel pump that is ready to give it up. The fuel filter is inside the right rear wheel well. It can be a little tricky due to corrosion, and watch out for the little o-rings that seal it to the fuel lines.

Thanks for your help I went out to inspect that deal and I found a huge stick lodged inside my tire well, so I pulled the stick out of it, maybe 2 feet in length 2-3 inches in diameter, long story short, I fired it up and rode down the street and it got up to 35 mph, so I am totally confused if that is what was causing it. It was lodged in that area, so do you think I need to have it inspected or just drive it around and see if that was the deal. Appreciate the advice..

Default Advice.

Whenever you encounter any such degradation in performance, unusual noises, or other odd behavior, you should immediately stop in the first safe place and do aa good walk-around look-see for out of the ordinary things.

This is one of trhe funniest threads I have seen yet as far as way something went wrong. If a stick that small slowed you down that much............

You didnt see the stick before you ran it over?
If it was lodged between a wheel and the ground it would have provided some serious dragging resistance.
Imagine how long it was before you stopped.

Walk all the way around the truck before you sit down at the keyboard!

It was hidden and it was not dragging the ground, it was wedged in the tire well around the fuel line. I am not a Land Rover expert and yes I guess I should have walked around the Rover, but normal speed to 10 mph and a mile away from the house, I was focused to get this ride back home. I just posted my findings and yes it is a strange story, so get a LOL. Being a Novice I figure it pinched the fuel line or something or blocked some sensor. Thanks for your help and I just wanted to report my findings.

Inspect the truck the best you can in the morning for any damage, I doubt there is any, but better safe then sorry.
Remember its always the little things that get you.
