Default Home made rock sliders

Well I got bored sitting around the house all day so I got the brite idea of making my own rock sliders.
Items used:
3" angle iron 3/16 thick x 60" long x2
2" square tubing 3/16 wall x 60" long x2
assorted bolts and nuts
lots of welding and grinding
case of beer and about 4 hrs
Total cost was $115 for materials

I used all the factory holes to mount them (just drilled strait threw the frame) and used large fender washers on the inside.
Only after I got them done and mounted I realized that the body contours and they have a 1.5" gap up front and 3/8" in back, its noticable but its mostly a trail rig so it doesnt bother me

That's great! Been considering building my own sometime due to absurd shipping cost to get things out here. As for the gaps I'd take function over form any day of the week and you just saved $500!

those look pretty good, and for the gap, at least now the rest of us know to put a slight bend in it...
or you could just go hit some big rocks and probably take care of that gap pretty quickly.

I made mine out of 2x4 3/16 steel.Welded the ends up and welded 3'' 3/16 plate to bolt up to the door sill.Cost $75 bucks for steel and $25 for the jack daniels.We'll do a comparison on sat if your still goin to rausch creek.

Yeah I still plan on making an apearance up there. I got some more metal to make some "rub rails" and some frame brackets but i doubt I will have time to weld that stuff up before the weekend.
