I've never fooled with the central locking (I have a love/hate relationship with it) but the RAVE manual says it becomes disabled "for a short period", but doesn't say how long that is.
In the section on the inertia switch's action it that it's also disabled for 30 seconds in the event of an accident and to reset it to turn off the ignition then back on after the 30 seconds have elapsed.

I've tried the 3 unlocks...no go. I read the "short period" last night and had some hope, but it's been 24 hours now. Maybe short period means a week.

I think the fob has to be my next area of focus.

HANDSET INITIALISATION
NOTE: New handsets are supplied in pairs.
If a new handset is required, it will require
initialisation to the ECU using the
following procedure:
1. Starting conditions: ignition off, doors unlocked,
bonnet switch depressed.
2. Carry out instructions 3. to 9. within 8 seconds.
3. Switch ignition ON.
4. Switch ignition OFF.
5. Lock doors.
6. Unlock doors.
7. Release bonnet switch.
8. Switch ignition ON.
9. Switch ignition OFF.
If alarm is correctly accessed, horn will sound and
LED will light. It is now possible to programme two
handsets of correct frequency to vehicle alarm ECU.
This must be carried out within two minutes.
10. Press and hold down button on first handset until
dash LED flashes.
11. Repeat instruction 10. for second handset.
12. The LED will extinguish if both handsets have
been initialised correctly.

HANDSET (96 MODELS)
If vehicle does not respond to handset immediately, it
may have lost synchronisation. To re-synchronise,
press either button, 4 times in quick succession. If
handset still fails to respond, check batteries, refer to
Owner’s handbook. If batteries are okay, it may be
necessary to use emergency key access, refer to
Owner’s handbook.

Is this what needs to be done to get the remote working? Mine has never worked since I've had the truck. I changed the batteries in the remote and it didn't work so I gave up, but that was years ago I would love to get it working again.

With know good batteries, I would first try the 4 unlocks "in quick succession", if that does not work, then yes. The above should work to initialize.

ok here is my suggestion, there is a factory alarm disarm wire going into the security module, often times activating this wire will resolve issues like this. the security module is under the passenger dash attached to a metal bracket held up by 2 7MM bolts (unbolt it and it will drop down). in that harness there will be a blue with green tracer wire, strip back a small spot on that wire and using a fused jumper tap it to ground a couple of times. unfortunately this is a long shot because this wire is the same wire as the one at your your key switch, but if nothing else works it may be worth a try (who knows maybe turning the key 15 times in a row messed up the switch in the door)

if that does not work, I would try manually operating the central locking system to see if that would work, but it is a bit more tricky due to the type of locking system in these trucks (a 1 wire system)

In the HANDSET INITIALISATION process, it has me lock and unlock my doors. Does the fact that my central lock mechanism is not working effect my ability to program the remote?
