Not supposed to take them off. It is a 1 and 1/16 inch. I bought a four way lug wrench at Advance Auto for 20 bucks.

A local garage that I took it to for inspection screwed up and used the wrong size impact socket on them and ruined all 20 of them.

I used solids from the earlier RR to replace them. I saw a supplier recently that has new solids pretty reasonably. The dealer gets 20 bucks per lug nut for the chrome capped ones.

They seem like an unnecessary pain. Anybody here ever just take the caps off and pitch them?

I just removed all mine. For some reason the factory wrench provided would not fit over the chrome caps. It was the same case for my '93 Range Rover as well.

They look like crap without the "caps". It is possible to keep them. I've had to replace a few. You just have to be careful and use the right size wrench, and watch out for air gun monkeys. With normal lug nuts they just ring them off. But with the Disco's big-a$$ lug nuts, they mutilate the crap out of them before they will break off. You can tell I have a lot of respect for tire jockeys.

The solids are the best replacement for when they do get messed up. And the 4 way lug wrench makes it a breeze to loosen them by hand as well as snug them up real good.
