Default Ignition key assembly different in a 5-speed?!?!?!

If it isnt one thing, then another......

Just found out that the ignition key assemly is different that an automatic. The plugs are the same, but the mounting configuration is slightly different. Also, the manual steering column seems to be wider??? WHY?!?!??!!?

Okay....venting is over. Need to find the right one.

That is odd the column would be different. I can see the lock itself being diff. as an auto trans one wont let the key out unless it's in park.

I just installed the ignition lock mechanism from my '95 in to my wife's '97. Fits fine and works fine. What the '95 switch doesn't have are the shift interlock (K191) and key interlock (X230, to prevent key removal if the transmission isn't in park).
Other than that, no issues.

Interesting.......I was told from the guy that I bought it from that it is different. From looking though the "RAVE", the harness should have been included.

The guy didnt give me the rest of the harness. In addition, the steering lock was not popping out.

Let me try it again when it is cooler outside....

This harness is the same between the two.

The steering lock doesn't pop out until you remove the key.

That is the harness that I have. The harness needed for the ignition switch that was provided to me has the screw mounts on the sides of the shaft, not on the "ears".

And yes, lock should pop out with the key out, but there is metal jammed in there preventing it from doing so....man this sucks.
