Question Intermitant stall

Mutley (1995 d1) is acting up again and these are his symptoms.
1. Runs great for LONG run.
2. Stop anyplace and let him sit
3. Start up and runs like it is loading up with fuel OR starving for fuel.
4. Run engine on high idle or drive and it spits, sputters, coughs up a fur ball and then runs fine again.
I ordered the books but would like to cure this ASAP since the wife wants to send him to the pound already.
My guess:
A. Trash in fuel line or system passes and runs fine
B. Injection not getting the correct signal from the brain box.
C. MAF is going south
D. 02 sensor has gone south.
What I have noticed are the letters SRS or CRS in red on the dash. The last letter "S" flashes when this is going on then when it runs correct it is NOT flashing.
Miles are 188,756
This one has not seen a shop in I do not know how long.
Any clue as to where to start with this one.
Other than this it runs well, everything works that counts so no regrets just need to get this puppy up and running clean.

I think I would start with a fuel filter and tune up. As far as the SRS light thats your airbag light so it has nothing to do with your stalling problem. Also dont forget these trucks take premium fuel

here is the link for the rave manual if you dont have it already http://www.landroverresource.com/

That's where I would start too. 60K service and see what clears up. Could also be the IACV or TPS. When the TPS goes south these things spit, sputter, stall, buck, and cough. Mine would do the same thing, but given that yours has sat for so long and hasn't been serviced start there.

PS. Are you throwing any codes? My light was not on but I was throwing a code so you might hook up the OBDII and see whats what.

Thanks, I bought a complete Diagnostic tool for ALL cars and never unpacked it. Now I can use it.
Also thanks for the links to the manuals.
Got some Injection cleaner and will give it the old Italian tune up on the interstate to blow out the cob webs and such.
Can not wait for my 2nd one to get here so I can start the swap from an "i" to an SE.
Thinking about dumping some race fuel in to see how it runs.

I wouldnt try the race fuel unless you want to have some problems.......At least if its the leaded fuel. I had to buy new cats and 02 sensors when I put race fuel in my old disco. But I will agree dump some injecter cleaner in it and run it like you stole it

LOLOL!!! Dump some Cam2 in there and let 'er rip!

I dumped some C12 into an old 1995 Ford Aerostar I was driving (diluted 4:1 with regular pump gas) and the exhaust smelled like I was at the tracks for weeks. I loved it!

Seriously though, you might start looking at the Idle Air Control. That might be gunked up and/or dying.

Go through the 60k service list. That should eliminate a lot of possible problems.

Check the OBD box under the passenger seat for codes. That may give a clue to the problem.

George, I don't know if it's the MAF, but they certainly are cleanable - Maf cleaner, whole can, both ends, let dry for 5mins. - don't clean hot
