Default Leveling Kit (front coil spacers)

Finished the drivers side leveling kit. Took about 3 hours. I had picked up these 2001 Dodge Ram coil spacers a couple weeks ago for $15 and hadn't gotten around to do it. They are 1.5 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter (Craigslist add said they were 2 inch spacers......). They fit over my Disco 1 springs (OME) like they were made for them! Lol. They are made out of steel (powder coated) so they're considerably stronger than the rubber/poly ones I've seen online.

Anyways, I'm glad they weren't 2 inches because my rig is almost dead even now on the drivers side. 36.5 inches front & 36.75 rear (even to the naked eye). I made steel tabs and welded them to the bottom lip of the spacer then shaped them into position to wrap around the first coil ring to keep them from sliding around the top of the coil (spacer spins freely on top of coil but doesn't slide off) . I've seen people use big zip ties to do this but I wanted a more secure remedy. They would never completely pop out as the strut blocks them from doing so but it gives me a warm and fuzzy... They top is held into the strut housing by the protruding lip on the coil spacers. Here are some pics.

Hmmmm thats interesting. What shocks do you have? By adding that 1.5" spacer in that fashion you've essentially reduced your shock downtravel/increasef uptravel by 1.5".

Running OME's shocks and springs. No clue which model as my rig came with it. Coils are 15 inches tall as I measured them once the were out.

Finished the passenger side this morning. Only took 1.5 hours for that side as I already knew what to do. Even went ahead and cleaned the front suspension up and greased all the zerk fittings on my rig.
Trucks rides and handles good. No binding or weird noises. Drove her around all day. City and Highway. Even towed with her just now. Definitely changed the attitude and stance of my rig. The tires look even better now. No rubbing issues with fenders at all. Rubs a little on trailing arms at full lock but that's a easy fix. My kids and neighbor even asked if I lifted her some more. Lol. I basically did. Still gonna do the Camel cuts as off roading is a different story in relation to rubbing.

I thought about this but when I am loaded down for wheeling/camping I sit level, so doing this would make me look like I had beat rear springs when loaded down

Luckily for me the back is a little higher (1/4 inch). I towed a customers harley touring bike on my trailer earlier and the *** end stayed pretty much put. I'm very satisfied with my $15 investment... Lol
