Default Lug Nuts

Some of my lug nuts on my 96 D1 are missing the aluminum cover. What size socket will I need for the ones with the covers removed?

Reviving this thread, can anyone confirm the 1" 6-point socket for the lugs without the covers? Looking at them it certainly looks like they're meant to take a universal socket, not a traditional 6-point or 12-point.

I had an odd lug not that was missing a cover when I got my DII and I found that 27mm fit the standard lug nut and 26mm fit the "naked" one. So, 1" seems like a good fit. I'll add that after someone gave me a bunch of RR lug nuts, to my surprise they were slightly larger than the DII lug nuts.

And as if by magic, under the cap the lug nut needs a 1" - 6 point impact socket.

Ah yeah I've been looking at my locking lugs. Found the socket attachment for them rolling around under one of the seats yesterday. Winner.

Wow, that lug nut in the video had to have undergone some serious swelling to require a 29mm socket. Usually, a 28 will take care of a socket with a deformed cap. I do like his method, though.

Makes me wish I had saved the hundreds of all steel lug nuts that came standard on all RRC's from 1987-1993 here in the US. In the old days, no one wanted them. They wanted the shiny version with the alloy caps like what was on the Disco and Defenders. IIRC 1994 was they year all Rovers here in the US started arriving with the alloy caps.
