Is there a way to take the MAF and air temp sensor in air box out of the equation without getting a code/check engine light?

Basically, if I go the cone air filter route and don't incorporate those two parts, will I get a code?

Joe, check this link, lots of info on how to hook up the sensor deeper into the thread.

Yeah, read through that (where I got the idea for the cone). But my thought is to take the MAF out of the equation if possible so there's less to go wrong down the road. Just want to make sure removing it will not mean automatic fault code. Like when I put new stereo receiver in, bypassed the 13 year old oem amplifier and used built in amp from receiver.

If you remove the MAF the truck will not run.
Thats how the ECU knows how much air the engine is getting.

Did you really just asked if you can take the MAF out? Sir you have lots to learn how modern efi engines work.

This is probably the dumbest question I've heard in years.

Yah, you can take the MAF out but you have to remove the ECU too, no codes that way.

Makes about the same amount of sense.

There are some fuel injection systems that don't use MAF.... Honda didn't start using one until about 2003. Rover's not one of them. So if you don't want MAF, you'll need to fit some sort of stand alone engine management.... and then program it yourself, because I doubt anyone has what you need for a rover. Sounds like a nightmare to me.

And if you don't have a distributor, which you don't, you'd need an ignition controller too. And then you'd have to worry about all of the body controls.... which on a D1, might not be too bad.
