Oh man! That is great!
You are going to be a popular guy with this post.
Let the DII guys know about this too, im sure a big percentage of them don't look over here.

How strong is the gutter guard stuff? is it flexable or pretty solid?

tweakrover Aug 3, 2010 10:42 PM

It is flexable but it holds its shape, so I dont think it will ding very easily. my only concern at this point is not washing it in some type of cleaner I primed it but I scratched some paint off mesing with it. It may be I didn't let it cure enough before handleing it.

please do, although I'm reluctant to call it a "saudi" grill I think that title should be reserved for the saudi's particular wire-type mesh

well I got the mesh and some epoxy,
Thanks for posting the kind you used. I went to do this before but couldn't find anything.. I found this HUGE 4x8 mesh stuff [whats that for] but never though to look at the gutter section.

I got everything taped up and im at a standstill. I figured I would macgyver something but can't figure out anything that will work to cut it like a grinder which I dont have.

tweakrover Aug 4, 2010 03:57 PM

invest in a dremel with the big assortment of bits, you will get your moneys worth out of it. and post some pics when you are done.

Spencerfitch Aug 4, 2010 04:22 PM

I have a dremel but those darn bits ALWAYS fly into peices. I dont get it.

And I really want to do this with the a woven mesh maybe 1/2-3/8" squares like the orignal saudi grill.

Maybe Ill put this off a little while?

tweakrover Aug 4, 2010 04:41 PM

yea good luck on finding that type of mesh

its very easy to find...Online

But anyways. Im cant wait i started about 2 hours ago.

The hardest part is the glue. I tried to flatten it out as much as possible, without bending it. There is no way tape is holding it down so I had to find a bunch of little weights.

The expoxy I bought says 5 mins but its more like 45 mins. This is taking forever.

Im going to pain the whole grill after.

Oh but I did find some better cutting disks and cutting the section out was WAYY easier than I thought it would be. I wouldn't hesitate to do it agian, couldn't have came out ANY straighter.

AHH one more thing. Seriously the mesh is a PERFECT fit. I though I would have to cut some but its like it was MADE for this.
