Make sure you get the "teeth" as far down on the stud as possible!

Haha, I dunno if "teeth" is the right word. The grabbing mechanism is basically a drill chuck, but each of the 3 grabbers have teeth instead of being a solid triangular shape. If you get that Titan one youll see what I mean.

This is what it looks like when fully extended. Basically, unscrew until the grabbers can just get onto the stud, then make sure you get it all the way down to the base of the stud before you proceed with clamping/extracting.

you know...if the head of the bolt shears off and is flush (not with the engine, my rear step actually) I have to drill into it right? Maybe use one of those screw type extractors...

Yeah, just get a cobalt bit and drill it out.

You can try a screw type extractor. They work for "household" level stuck screws. Failed miserably on my manifold stud...maybe I used it wrong?

Kind of a non-story, as it looks pretty much the same as it did in my road trip thread

Or is there something specific you wanted pics of?

Nothing specific......just seemed like you were doing a ton of work and was wondering about the current state.

Ah, ok.

I have been putting alot of work into it, but, like the rust fix, it is all stuff that goes mostly unseen. I have thought about building a roof rack though
