Default Need a part

I removed the old crankshaft sensor from my 96 DI but the connector came apart and now I can buy the sensor most places but I cannot find a new connector. I sent emails out to a few used parts dealers but have not heard anything back yet. Can I solder the wires directly to the sensor and wrap them with protective material to keep out the weather without using the connector? If you need pictures give me an email address. Thanks

send this guy and email, explaining what you need. I believe he can get you the connector you need.

Available through NAPA, I see two types mentioned (I looked at 4.0). listed as "w/ centered index slot; w/ 2 terminals, Black; Release" p/n 218457 and "w/ center alignment slot; female type; w/ 2 terminals; Black" p/n 218545. Looking at the sensors, I suspect the real difference is AT or MT, but any NAPA store could show you pictures of both. I even stock both numbers here in my store, $15.58 or $9.99. Hope that helps! Got er done. Crankshaft sensor was the problem as Disco Mike thought. There is no aftermarket access to the original connector or plug for these unless you want to pay several hundred dollars for a complete wiring harness. Someone needs to get with the parts companies and get this corrected. Thanks

The sensor - p/n CSS1214 Echlin (CROSSES FROM ROVER ERR6119)- I sell at 51.19. It looks like an aluminum adapter is on my part that I don't see on yours, possibly removeable or still on your engine. The mating connector is either 2-18545 or 2-18457 line code CRB. The 218457 I saw as an optional number on Defender for same sensor, it is definitely a better looking connector and has better seals at $15.58, but the 218545 will work at $9.99. Both connectors do look different from your picture (even without the flame job!), but they will connect and function perfectly with this CSS. I notice the Atlanta Distribution Center shows all numbers in stock. Hope this helps, Russ

Ordered one in to try and the connectors fit perfectly - although they look different from your original sample. Russ
