Does this work for a 98 disco 4.0?
Thanks!

Yes, that's why its on the D1 section. Originally Posted by vpadferg

Be aware its just the pump, though. You'll have to reuse your housing. The housing is different between non-AEL(94-97) and AEL(97-99).

I verified that my fuel pump is out (no pressure at rail, and 12v at pump) I am attempting the fuel pump rebuild this weekend. One thing of note, if replacing the "straw" fuel line, do i need to use submersible fuel line? All of the posts i studied on rebuilding the fuel pump using the Airtex E3270/TS7 either dont mention the line replacement or state line was replaced with "fuel injection hose". Any helpful hints would also be appreciated.

You can use fuel injection hose. Or try to reuse the straw. Originally Posted by jdblep

If you use fuel injection line make a loop(think roller coaster) in the middle when you connect the line to the top and bottom. When you install the fuel pump into the tank it will compress and this loop will allow the line slack(you're actually making the loop bigger when compressing the pump) and won't kink it.

so this is not compatible with a 1999 disco series 1 ? I bought this one tonight hoping it will be ok. New Replace Intank Fuel Pump Install Kit | eBay he just wanted it for the pump as well.

I believe mine marks wrong( the float might be off). Light comes on but I still have like 6gal left. Light comes on and it takes 14-15gal to fill. But I ran it down till it filled up with 23gal.

Thanks FishEH, got it replaced this weekend, and is running perfectly. I reused the straw by cutting off the nipple on the old pump, and carefully extracting the plastic piece from the hose (used a clamp on the straw hold, since it was loose fitting).

I know this is an old thread .. but for once im not making a new one
I got rubber hose I used 5/16 with the fuel injection hose clamps, worked out well.
I must admit I got a bit freaked out when I opened the box and saw the connector with wires sittin in the box "aw heck gonna have to splice that connector in?!". .... Needless to say it's a direct fit for the original connector. just incase others get a lil nervous before pulling everything out..
This job is so much easier than my van, or old truck thanks to that access port! only wish I kept my old blazer fuel pump ... woulda worked perfect in here, but that got scrapped with the tank and some other "spare" parts a while ago.
Thanks for the tip guys, the auction did change its now:
New Premium High Performance Fuel Pump Strainer Kit GM Vehicles GA3270 | eBay
They also have a real "E3270" that is 2$ cheaper... One thing to note, for me when they shipped they underpaid on the shipping so it came $3.30 postage due, they did however refund me once I sent a copy of the note from the post office.

I did this repair over the weekend and the good news is the fuel pressure at the rail is now 30 psi instead of 20 like it was before. the disco fired right up and I'm guessing my hot weather vapor lock and lack of uphill, high speed downshif power will be gone.
The bad news is the fuel gauge no longer works and when my son filled the tank, a pint or more gas spilled out of the underside of the thing (no fuel inside near the fuel pump cover).
So it looks like I damaged the fuel level sender while replacing the pump. But I didn't have much luck finding a thread on diagnosing or fixing that.
I'm also guessing that excess gas flowed out of the little vapor hose at the top of the pump that looked to be routed out in under the right rear somewhere instead of backing up the filler hose and stopping the pump nozzle. What's up with that?

I believe the small hose at the top of the pump you are describing is the fuel gauge vaccum hose. The tank vent tube should be on the right side of the tank with a quick disconnect hard line just below the filler neck. The fuel gauge vacuum line should connect to a ****** fitting on the end of a plastic hard line just above the filler neck.
