Default New electrical problem

So my Disco sat for most of the weekend, drove it once on Saturday night to dinner, about a 5 mile roundtrip. All was good, went out this morning and the battery was dead. Gave it a jump and back in action. The battery and alt are both new, replaced less than a month ago so I know thats not my issue. What I have noticed is that when I park it and pull the key from the ignition, is that I still have power to the windows, sun roofs and the a/c. Im thinking there is a short or something in the ignition or is this normal. Just trying to figure out what is drawing power from the battery all the time. Any ideas?

Seriously? Even without the key in the ignition?

Yeah. A lot of newer cars have that. You'll be able to run windows and locks and radio until you open a door. Then it cuts out.

I do not think that is normal. I do know the key switch tends to wear badly in these. You may have an issue in the switch there in the steering column.

The power to the windows and sunroofs remains for 30 secs after turning off the truck and removing the key. I'm not certain about the a/c.

Check after 30 seconds (or better to give it 45) and let us know what happened.

Waited the 30 secs, even waited up to 2 min, still does it. Im thinking along the lines of Danny Lee and a bad switch in the ignition.

You may want to rmove the plastic cover and take a look at it. I would suggest a good contact cleaner spray like CRC to see if that helps.

Those are rather expensive parts to buy new.

With mine, the original key was severely worn and I had some problems until I opened it up sprayed it good, got new key made and I develop the "Touch" . I seat the key, turn it to the first position, push it in slightly, then turn to position , then turn to position 3 to start.

If you jam it in and try to force it, it will hang up. I do not let just anyone start it either. Finesse it, it works, try to force it, it will hang and you can break the key or mess up the switch.
