Default New Exhaust

I am needing a new exhaust and was wondering what everyone thought. I would like your opinions on what you think is best, NPR, Borla, Magnaflow? Thanks.

I just installed a Magnaflow stainless cat-back on my wife's '97. Fit's perfect. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the bolt flange that connects to the y-pipe isn't also stainless, but it's not a big deal.

I only did it though because what was on there was in bad shape and a bodge from the PO. I had to cut it out to get the transfer case out so I just replaced it.

I paid something like $370 for it with free shipping.

That's a pretty good deal. You can get a flow master muffler on eBay for sub 65$ and have someone put it in. whatever you do, ditch the resonator.

Im with Tom on this. I have the magnaflow on my 99 it sounds good and the muffler is shiny but my pipes are rusting (must be cheap stainless coating?). I think the Borla is a little better quality but every one I have seen off roading ends up smashing the tailpipe into the bumper.

LMAO! Too true! I want better exhaust because it's a V8 and I like shiny objects, but I bought my 99 D1 as a winter/off-road vehicle and not a beauty queen... although she is a decent 6 in my book.

...but high maintenance like she's an eleven!

I dont know if yours looks better then this Tom but this is what mine looked like after 6 months and maybe 1500 miles. Its never seen salt roads just been off roaded probably 1200 of those miles. The metal is still thick I just cant figure out how stainless got that bad.

Damn, that's pretty rusty, even for low grade stainless.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. I installed it in march and that wouldve been november I took that pic so it never had a chance to see salt on the roads. Even the new cats an Y pipe are Magnaflow they all look the same.

My silencer is rotted out. So I'm in the market, too. I believe imma install a thrush and run a y-pipe in the back into a dual exhaust.

I've also thought about getting rid of the silencer, just having cats. (My muffler's gone)
These on youtube sound good like that, but I'm afraid I'd get tired of it sounding that loud. It'd also blend into the unfortunate plethora of other high school kids with their 6+ inch lifted Dodge mud machines with flowmasters. I just want a throaty sound
