I can't figure out how to change in the new rear end caps on my '98 D I. Has anyone out there done this? From the new ones, I can tell they are secured at three points by small phillips head screws. The only problem is that when they're on the truck, such as the ones I'm replacing, you can't get to the head of two of the screws! Thoughts? I would just bust them off, but then that leaves the problem of putting on the new ones, which would be the same issue.

When I pulled mine off to paint them I took the entire bumper off so I could paint it also. If memory serves me right its only two bolts to remove the entire rear bumper then disassemble to your hearts content. Have fun.

theres kinda end cap bracket you remove. so you remove the bracket first, and the cap comes off with it. you will need a ratched and a wrench there are 2 or 3 bolts holding it on

The bumper caps are each attached to the bumper by a metal bracket. Remove the metal bracket from the bumper (it's attached by a few bolts) and then once that assembly is off go ahead and unscrew the end cap itself with a phillips screwdriver. Assembly is reverse of disassembly.

I like the ones that you trim away some of that over-hanging assend from the rear fenders and improve the clearance. I have seen a couple of different brands that look really good.
