Talking ordering some new tires in the next week

going to try out the retreads at www.treadwright.com ,,,

i have 245/75 r16 with a bit of room to spair , fact is ill bottom out my springs before i bottom out my tires with my lifted set up i have (with around two inches of room up front from fender, and 1 1/2" room in the rear with springs bottomed out )

also what is the biggest you can fit on the stock tire carrier? been looking for this answer for a while

was looking at 265/75 r16 or 235/85r16

i can see all ready i cant go to wide with out rubbing on stuff, but i can go taller , my goal is to get the tallest/widest tires that i can fit with only camel cut, and my 5" lift and still retain my stock rims ..

and can the 285/75R16 GUARD DOG M/T fit my stock rims and will this fit on my tire carrier ?

and if you need to ask bent arms,12" fox, 4"springs big blue, 1.5" spring risers, break extenders, custom gbr drive shafts, new motor ,rebuilt tyranny/transfer-case, new break system, new ecu, new cats, new o2,

future mods snorkeler tube , gearing w/lockers, bump stops or air shocks still unsure? and i decided to add a rear battery once i find time

you are looking at 32" and 33" tires.

I would go with the 285/75/16 but i believe they are out of stock. i tried contacting treadwright about it on facebook but didnt get a response. i had a set of 265/75/16 guard dogs and they were great tires. they did dry rot along the seam after about 18 months but part of that is probably cuz i air them down to wheel. they still had plenty of meat on them after nearly 35k. they do have a new tread where they are using a bead to bead retread so im wondering if every tread they make is goign to become a bead to bead and that is why they are not stocking the old style.. not sure. but go with a 33" for sure.

When ordering from them, call, you will get a much quicker delivery.
2 months ago I install a set of their 265's and as everyone has told me over the last year or so, they are a terrific tire for the money and quality.
235's, for the most part are no longer being made so keep that in mind.
265's with a lift should be fine on factory 8X16 wheels as would the 285's, you'll just need to do a little triming to fit a 286.
As for the tire carrier, should be able to turn your carrier over and fit a 265 and maybe a 285.
What are you going to do if you go to a 285 when it comes to gears?

What's wrong with your front bumper???
5" lift you shouldn't be looking at anything less than a 33" IMO. Ideally you want the biggest tires with the least amount of lift.
235/85/16 tires are still being widely made. 255/85/16 tires are hard to come by.
Your truck will look silly with 5" lift sitting on 265's or 235's. I have 265/75/16's on 3" RTE springs and it is very close to looking silly I think. My next set of tires will be 285/75's or bigger if I regear.

You dont NEED gears or HD anything with open diffs on those little tires.. And discomike is wrong stock rims are 16x7. 285/75 wheeled HARD the open diff is the weak link.

With a 5" lift you should be fitting 35s...

after 1500 miles on rainy day i can say i enjoy these tires much, tho i all ready tore apart my whole car once more and am going top heavy , got 5" springs ,trying to stuff 14" fox racing shocks and 16-18" rear and bump stops for higher speeds on dirt, and of course hitting speed bumps at freeway speed's

i will attempt to fit Trail Worthy Fab's hummer wheels with bead locks so i can get 37" and on board air ( i need to know what off set i should get???)

and dose any one have pictures of a set up like this ?

just got my 245/75/16 TW guard dogs E yesterday sharp looking tires great read pattern. Will be included in my build post next week. Great tires happy to see others using them too. And yes call much faster servicemh tires arrived a week earlier then quoted. Was questionable about what shells they use but my shells are good year wranglers with Kevlar. Can't wait to put them on. good to hear more reviews of them. Met a rover guy from Texas that talked them up real good. Those 285s would look good with that much lift.
