Default Passenger windows

I am sure this has been covered, but search doesn't quite bring it up...

The first "X" minutes I am driving, my passenger window motors do not work. The switches are dead to the world, no effect whatsoever. I don't really care, because I hardly ever use them... until sometimes I accidentally go to do something and hit the button and they DO work. I always forget to test (see "don't care") but they seem to start working after driving -- some time. No idea how long, because I don't care, don't track it, but eventually they do start working just fine.

To restate: After I drive a while, window motors that got no power from switches suddenly do.

Any idea why? If it's a symptom of something I should nip in the bud, I might start caring.

Hello? Not "broken" but cold/cracked solder joint yes. Unless your gonna whip out a meter on us just go with it Lady Pidge. Green-Lightbulb had the same thing just happen - read about halfway down page; https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...g-75660/page3/

Pidge, the rear windows in my truck exhibited the same symptoms. A solder repair seems to have done the trick.

picutre of what a bad solder looks like...and repair...

Mine did the same thing. first the pass side front window sometimes would work, or not. I fixed the circuit board. Then a few weeks later, the rear windows quit working. i replaced all the switches, No change. I pulled the board again and found more cracked solder joints. Been working for almost a year now.

LMAO

Yes my windows worked sometimes then other times they didn't. I found the bad solder joint but I had to look very closely to find it. You should see a small crack around the joint.

Edit: also in the video posted above he removes the circuit board without removing the whole box with it. I was able to do that but I found it way easier to remove the two nuts on the front of the box, pull it off the studs, move it up (only one nut in back so it can pivot up), then the board slides right in. It makes it way easier because the bottom part of the dash is in the way. You can then then put it back in it's place and put the nuts back on.

Hope that makes sense.

Man I'm glad you guys read this stuff........

I know pigeon toes can do this without even looking, I just don't know how to make her, er I mean help her do it.

She could be an inspiration to all the little children out there..... especially the ones who don't know what a Constant Velocity Joint does when worn....... (mcabrera3).

Omg I'm not THAT stupid. Of course I know what a contract velociraptor joiner does when worn. EVERYONE knows that. DUH.

I'm leaving my windows for now. I don't need them and frankly the way it is now stops the pupper from opening all the windows, which she likes to do when she gets in. She just tramples every switch she can. I'm sure that's just fine for the car.

But next Spring when I am bored, out comes the box and I shall solder.

Lol, uh huh to what she said. My God woman your stubborn........ like a rock.... the one that created my cracked windshield. It never grows and yet I still manage to see it everyday. Can you not be more like a diamond? They have facets, gazed at, get shown off and can cut glass! Yes, you my dear can cut glass if you only put your mind to it......!!!!!

Um, a little tiny secret. If you open your front wind oh just a hair and open the back just a hair you'll feel just a little air in your hair. Open a bunch and oh boy, hair is everywhere. That's just with one sides windows open....... what the hell am I selling here?
