Default To Remove Coil Pack / To Remove Front O2 Sensors?

Hello Good People,

Do I have to remove the Plenum in order to remove the ignition coil pack?

Is it necessary to remove the ignition coil pack to change the front O2 sensors?

Thanks

No you dont have to remove the plenum. You dont have to pull the coil pack assembly, but good luck reaching the connectors with it in place. There should be 4 nuts holding on the coil pack assembly. On mine a couple pulled out the studs with them, but theyll just thread back in.

If you lay on the plenum and have normal sized hands you should be able to reach the front O2 sensor harnesses.

Thanks for the response dos531 and Best4x4,
I have O2 sensors coming and getting mentally prepared for laying on the engine and looking for these plugs.

Thanks

Start spraying penetrating fluid on those sensors now.

The connectors are held in place on top of the bell housing with 2 clips, however if anyone has every worked on it before and was lazy they might not have secured them like they were when it rolled off the assembly line.

I've been able to get to them with just a small flash light, laying over the plenum, getting them off of their clips, and disconnecting them.

As a man of a certain size, I can say it is a pain in the keister. Laying on top of the plenum is not an option for me. I just take the coil pack off.
But yeah, soak the O2s. I have used this with very good results:
CRC Freeze-Off CRC Freeze-Off
Just follow the direction and voilą!

Thanks hrhoward,
Looking forward to getting those O2 sensors installed, and getting the truck running better.

Im calling BS . My 1997 disco 1 driver side ended up being doable after hours and and a few broken knuckles. the passenger side is IMPOSSIBLE to reach. I stumbled on this thread cause im doing the exactly same thing...looking to pull the coil pack to get to it. My 16 year old super long and lean and his hands cant even get to it
