Just to follow up I know it's been awhile. I paid the mechanic 1,000 even and he fixed the head gasket, he said the heads looked great, considering the mileage he said they were pretty. We also replaced the thermostat. The whole issue could have been avoided if I had shut down the rover at the first sign of overheating but I tried to make it to the gas station. It all started from a stuck thermostat. I got it back from the mechanic and it's running great. Have not been running it as much and I have it under a cover in the shed. Going to use the LR to just pull my boat and stuff now, shes a great beast glad I've got her. Going to keep up my maintenance and hope she keeps cruising steady. I've had only a handful of problems out of my 99 disco 1. Best model you ask me take care guys

My heads looked good off, they were warped and got machined hope they were properly checked

I would be driving it all over to be sure the repair holds up
