That Defender-ish headlight conversion IMO is even better than the 03/04 Disco Headlight conversion, much more rare and unique looking. Seems like you almost could do a homemade/poorman's version with some stock headlight assemblies, some paint, and some creativity.

I was actually thinking the same thing, more or less just tape off both areas around the lights, then just cover the whole lite set assembly with foil, then just brush on some fiberglass resin. That would give you the solid piece shaped properly for the area, then just make some mounting brackets and dremel it out to fit new lights in!

Wow.. I Might just make one!!

I've got 2 cracked headlight assemblies, as soon as I can find some (cheap) replacements I was going to give this project a shot. I was also looking into RRC headlights as a guide. You can keep the blinker the same, just use the spray "tint" to darken them out....it works perfectly in my head:p:D

And...just exactly how many other voices are confirming how it works in your head? :D

See? This post sounded funny in my head...

On a serious note - depending on the tint spray you are using, and how much time you spend masking and taking care while spraying...it certainly seems like it could be fairly effective!

I'm waiting for your write up...I got a bunch of 16gauge stainless I could use...

I had a whole crowd of voices in my head cheering me on ;)

Yeah, my initial idea was just to darken out everything on the assembly but a Defender headlight sized circle, but that would seriously jack up the light output. Then I thought (and I'm not sure how easy it would be) to cut a large hole in the glass, then mount a round light in that, so you wouldn't have to adjust any wiring.

Even something more along the lines of the RRC would look good on a Disco...

no no no yall are doing it all wrong.

Take a peice of sheet aluminum. Cut to dimension to fit over whole headlight and blinker. Bend to shape and coat with sometjing to stiffen.

now add a hole for the light and blinkers.
