I had the same issue. Check the nut on the bottom of the pitman arm that connects it to the steering box. I had my wife turn the steering wheel back and forth and I could see thats where the slack was. I got about two full turns on it and now its perfect.

It's not any of the issue. Not the purpose of a steering damper.

He said his steering damper was brand new.
New or not even there the steering damper has zero to do with his problem.

"Emma" had the death wobble a few years back. The rubber bushings "looked" good, but after a few years of oil soaking them, they where cooked. The oil leaks where fixed...more or less, and all the bushings where replaced. Problem solved. While I was in there I did the shocks and damper, but those clearly where not the major issue.

Its cold as titties in a brass bra outside right now, I'm gonna crawl under there and check out the pitman arm and see if maybe the bolt is loose. If that's not it my guess is that its probably the steering box adjustment. I'll post back with what I find. Any special tools needed to adjust the box?

I just fixed this issue.
You need Panhard bushings.

There is a bar you need to remove on the front end.
It is large - and has bushing on each end.

Get the poly bushings. put those into the panhard bar.

Replace the bar.

Steering will be perfect.
Please do this and let us know the results.

Lots of stuff to move around.. Look up Death Wobble and start there.. BUT, After replacing most of my front end I found that ALIGNMENT cleared up my death wobble... So don't take it for granted that your alignment is ok... Of all the things I did the algnment was the cheapest....So I would recommend starting there..

Not mentioned yet are the actual steering box mounting bolts.. Mine were loose enough to turn with my fingers and my steering box moved around quite a bit...Steering box bolts were the "first" thing I found that I thought was "the" issue... :rolleyes:
THEN I replaced.. In order:
Steering drag link ends.
Track Rod ends.
Panhard Bushings.
Rebuilt Steering Box and adjusted..Mine was leaking horribly..Leaked even when not running... I replaced all the hoses too..
Sway Bar End Links and Bushings.
Steering Damper.
None of these things stopped the Wobble till I realized I was actually toe'd out nearly 15mm.. Spec is 2mm.. Once I got that right the wobble went away..
Please start with a simple check of the toe-in spec...
