I had to use a dollar store glue stick and it's still holding up after 2 months.

Bought the rubber surrounds and glued them as indicated. When re-installed the woofer barely seems to vibrate but no sound comes out. I can't tell what's wrong... saw other instructions that cut the small center paper dome and shim the cone before gluing new surrounds, but don't understand what that accomplishes and afraid to mess-up further.
Any ideas? Thanks.
