Thanks. Good info. I'm about to do it. You think I can reuse my stripping and seals?

I use a small screwdriver(3/16") to remove and install those type of seals. Works great. Just make sure to use lube. I usually use 10% simple green mixed with water in a spray bottle.

The price makes the silicone caulking a desirable alternative to some.

By silicon method you mean putting a lot of silicon under the old seals when you put them back in???

What about that tool? Have a picture or link for that? Or am I good with that small screwdriver?

i just looked it up again on dweb, and its snap on tool # ya208a

its cheap, just buy it.

i bet with some proper fiddling you could get it with a screwdriver, but you can do the whole insert one handed when you have the tool.

How do you hold the window in place if you only use one hand...

your lovely assistant holds the window of course.

i'll buy the tool and unless anyone yells "crap job" I think I'll gasket seal or silicon the old weatherstrip/seal into place.

My 97 has some splits at the corners of the rear cargo area side windows. It is not leaking now, but you can see evidence of previous leakage, probably from the holes that rusted thru the top just under the Alpine windows.

After seeing the prices of replacing all the seals, a tube of 50 year silicone caulking will probably be the fix for those window gaskets. They look a lot like the pics that Calebbo posted of his. Especially since it is not a show car and sees some rough conditions here in the winter time and off road. It's too tall to fit in my garage.

It's not like it's a sweet looking classic 928 or 420SEL like I used to drive. It's just a pig in a dress and loves to play in the mud.

I replaced all mine with a plastic trim kit from Cornwell tools. It worked great, and I even got to change my drivers rear twice because the first one I got from Atlantic British cracked in the corners a week after I put them on. Use baby powder when installing, makes it so much easier.
