Default the time has come for my Disco

Its a sad day, I've got to say goodbye to my much loved 98 TDI.

After 180k miles, 105k of those by me, the engine has packed up (knocking in the bottom half) so I'm going to have to sell her.
If I had the money for a replacement engine I'd keep her for another 100k miles.

Not in great condition, slightly rust, slightly scratched a small dent in the roof above the driver.

Regularly serviced by one of the best garages I know.

What I don't know is what she's worth.

What do you reckon?

That is an awfully loaded question, because the values of Discoveries are a bit different in the UK than in the US. I'll guess probably something like £5-600. That's still about $750USD.

I would just drop the oil pan and replace the rid bearings and keep driving her.
Rod bearings dont cost that much and doing the work yourself is free.
Just because the bottom end is knocking does not mean the whole engine is toast.
