Time for an OME lift kit it seems
hello fellow rovers.
well the time has come to vamp up my suspension on my 1996 D1. Shes been a bit bouncy and squeeky over bumps and cornering could be better to say the least. I also have the renowned passanger side sag from the tired springs.
Im fairly well decided on using either the old man emu or ironman lift kit (springs and shocks)
I am fairly technical/mechanical but i wanted to ask for any tech advice yall may have for me involving the installation. Im guess i will need to increase the gap to fit in taller springs by using the bottle jack and i would like to find out a good method to make this happen. I know pulling the front shock mounts is fairly easy.
Ive seen the ironman kits (4shocks 4springs) for sale for about $500 which sounds pretty good to me.
special tools?
gap increase?
required removals to complete
ect
thanks in advance

Here's a nice write-up from Dweb. I saw at least a 2.5" (almost 3") increase from the original setup using the OME HD springs. You planning on adding any more weight to the truck?

its pretty straight forward. you will need coil spring compressor(front), strut spring compressor(rears), 4 jack stands, 2 jacks, (1 FLOOR 1 BOTTLE). lift the vehicle from frame and sit high on stands from the frame. disconnect shocks and allow axle to drop making sure brake lines dont get pulled. remove old springs (pretty easy) and shocks. compress new springs and place in seats. i spent the better part of 2 days doing my suspension. but i also hada broken rear upper shock mount i had to wait on caused by dissassembly. if all goes well can be done by a novice safely and corretly in 6-8 hours.
