Default vacuum advance unit help!!!

The vacuum advance unit on my 1995 d1 is shot, ive heard this is a buick based engine that rover fit to there application, is there a car I can find in the junkyard that I might be able to pull a distributor or just the vacuum advance unit from to replace mine, since the dealer wants 150 just the vaccuum unit

Default Vacuums SUCK

is the engine running rough? the vac advance really shouldn't affect it much at all. Naturally your timing will be off a bit at higher revs but not much. The diaphram is what is probably gone (I assume you have checked the vac line).

The design of the block is Buick ( GM circa 1961)... the dizzy from that era is not compatible. You can either pony up for the new advance or really open up your piggy bank and take this opportunity to go electronic... maybe Pertronix or I might favor D.U.I...

**edit** "dealer"???? you mean stealer... please support parts suppliers (take your pick) and not the dealerships for a LR of the ' 95 vintage.

if your sure its the problem I can get you one for 35$ going price on ebay is 50$

Edit ok I lied, previously they sold for 30$ 16$ and 35$

I normally can get parts for SUPER cheap [transmission 70$ fuel pump 15$ cheap] but for some reason the junk yard wants 20$ for the pump and its a GOOD drive for me.

They're out there, keep checking (even, god forbid, another forum)

There's some really cool upgrades involving a newer buick HEI conversion (use your old gear, bored to .50") with a new coil box.

luck,greg
