On a Land Rover with ABS you need to cycle the ABS modulator to effectively bleed the brakes. You need a diagnostic app or tool to do so. Folks will tell you they didn't or you don't need to but if you want a firmer pedal that's how she rolls. That will occur if all the equipment is in good working order like the proportioning valve, lines, hoses, MC, calipers/piston seals, etc. If you do this correctly the ABS will kick it not allowing the wheels to lock up but you'll be kissing the steering wheel just the same with one push of the pedal. If you want, contact Paul or Will for a lightly used modulator block/pump. Sludge is a result of not bleeding the ABS system this way.

I've got a FOXWELL NT510 I bought for D2's to bleed the brakes via ABS but doesn't appear to be any options to use it for D1's. thanks for the info on the modulator pump.

Is the Foxwell NT510 loaded with just the software for the DII or can it diag Land Rover and Jaguar like the NT510 Elite?

No, it's the Land Rover/Jaguar package. But the D1 options aren't as many as for D2. No abs brake bleeding that I can find.

Disco 1 and 95 - 99 P38A's use the WABCO C modulators. See if you can get your tool to connect to the ABS under the P38 menu.

99.999999% it won’t work but what the heck. If it does you can be the first to tell the world how much of a difference it makes.

Scott, since you like punishment...... I did a little research (just because) and boiled it down simply to one diag/service tool that can cycle the ABS modulator, iLand sold by Atlantic British. It's retailing for $399.95 on their site. That price gets you all the Rover bunk mates, not just one model. It's written by Omnitech, the same company that wrote the TestBook T4 software.

Ha.. I do.. thanks!!..... I went out and activated my abs on gravel road 4-5 times... then re-bled thinking that might be the issue.. no dice. The only thing that sticks out about this Beck-Arnley master cylinder was when I first put brake fluid in it some black stuff seeped up from the piston.. like maybe the rubber had been sitting for a while and dried out.. I'm grasping at straws now ... But do recall several forum members saying they went through several master cylinders before finding one that would work. Looking into the iLand now.

Thanks for assisting me in this !
