Water puddle = sputtering
So..... I ran through a Water puddle today which shot water in many directions. Once I got through it, the Disco started sputtering and not wanting to do anything above idle rpms 700ish. I pulled over and lifted the hood and found the entire top of the engine completely dry. I put the vehicle in park and it idled just fine. When I gave it some throttle it just kept sputtering. 10 minutes go by and eventually all things went back to normal. I imagine something dried out within that time.
My question is.... What wire connection or what could've gotten wet (probably on lower 1/2 of engine) that would of caused this? All top part of engine was dry. Many thanks |
Did you check your airbox/MAF?

Air filter intake was dry and all hoses dry on top of engine as well as the ignition coils dry. 97' D1 |
two things come to mind....the crankshaft position sensor ( or the cracked wiring to it) drivers side lower rear of the block, and also the fender mounted ECU....strategicly located over a rust hole on the passenger side front fender, it may be wet inside ....you can remove it and have a look...then seal it back up
