Hey All,

I just need some help with the ID of this Disco. I am not sure what benefits it as over the standard Disco I and am looking on advice. It has 130,XXX on it ans he wants 5K. Not sure if its worth it. He said everything is in great working order, never overheated, not major work done. Thanks for the help.

 

Could be an xd or like mine, a fake camel trophy

More info is needed are there special edition plates or decals under the hood?

From the pic I would say fake camel trophy, if he claims real camel trophy it need s to be proven, if real then I think its worth 5 k

Gas/diesel? Auto? Stick?

 

Looks like a yellow D1 with bumper, snorkel, and stickers.
Its 100% not a Camel Trophy, and I'm about 95% sure its not an XD.

 

Do the XD's have any advantage over the standard D1?

 

Real XDs got yellow paint, factory light guards, safari guard roof rack and some skids IIRC. That one says SE7 right on the side so it's not a real XD.

 

No sunroofs? That will leak.

SD's have no sun roof's, not a player for an XD qualifier.

 

I've never really understood the fascination and premium attached to XD's. Mechanically they are exactly the same as any other D1. You are paying for paint and a rack as far as I can tell.

 

It's not a fascination to me so much is it's a rarity with a Special Vehicles designation among the already low volume you'll pass on the roadway. It's rare I see a Discovery let alone a bright AA Yellow one. They have a few doodad's garden variety don't, like skids, rack and brush guard from now vintage suppliers and they kept the interior spartan. I'll take an XD.
