So before you buy one, check the actual fuel pressure.
What is your truck doing wrong, do you have any check engine codes, if so what are they?

i have only driven the car for like two hours i just bought it i was told it needed a fuel filter but changed that, the car will bog down drastically then rite before ding it will start back up if im lucky. the last time i drove it went about a .3mi before starting to bog and by 1mile the car dies and i had to get jump started. the car started and ran for about 3 minutes and died out, i had to have it towed home and it has not started since.there are also no engine lights on unless this person i bought it from took them out

my D1 has a fuel pump from a chevy caprice (I believe that's what the PO told me) You might want to look into one of those, they are probably 10 X's cheaper than the rover pump.

A 98 is what is called AEL (Advanced Evaporative Loss) that recirculates vapors back into the tank.

Early 97 and earlier are Pre AEL, these pumps are much cheaper. You have the most expensive one and cannot substitute the earlier assembly. I don't know if the actual internal pump is the same is the same though. If it is, I have the one from the pump I replaced that I will sell you really cheap.

I am sure someone on here could tell you if the internal pump itself is the same or not. I had to put in a whole new assembly due to the top plate having a severe crack in it, so I salvaged the original pump prior to discarding the old unit.

The pump I am referring to is the silver cylinder and filter bag in the tray on the last two pics. The crack is clearly visible in the pics of the top.

These cracks just cannot be properly sealed, so if anyone has that problem, my advice is go ahead and buy a new assembly, don't waste your time and money on sealants.

Good luck with it, if you can use the internal pump, contact me.

Before you do anything else you need to check a few things.
First check the battery voltage.
Then check the fuel pressure, on the fuel rail on the passenger side there is a tire valve looking thing.
Rent a fuel pressure tester and check the fuel pressure there, with the engine running it should be 32-36 psi.

When it stalls out and you try and restart it what happens exactly in plain English what exactly does it do?
Do the dash lights come on?
Will it turn over?
Do the headlights work?

We need more info.

If he cannot get it started, how is he going to be able to give you codes?
