Question Is this wire out of service ?

Hello,

When getting back the black cover under the ventilation blower in the passenger footwel, I remarked a thick red wire connected in a grey connector with is plugged in a green box aside the blower motor. (All other wires in these connector are thin) The other end of this wire was not connected.

Other end of the thick red wire is not connected

Better sight on the gray connector (here unplugged)
Is this OK ? Or have I cut by accident that wire by taking away and replacing the black cover ? What serves this green ECU for ? Behind the gray flat connector, is also plugged a smaller green connector with less wires.
Do someone knows where this wire normally must be connected to ?
Could this be the culprit for my interior lights not coming up anymore when opening doors ?

Greetings,
PierroDisco

The red looking wire is actually the antenna for the 10AS alarm/remote.

Hello Best4x4,

Thanks for the information !

(After sending my first post I saw in the panel by searching that exact the same question was already made by another member a fax time ago)

But my initial problem -courtesy lights doesn’t come op anymore when opening doors- remains nevertheless.

Greetings,
PierroDisco

Hello Good People,

By chance has anyone had any success in extending that red wire to improve the range of the key fob?
I usually have to stand right next to truck to unlock.

Question Battery in fob now has low capacity ?

Hello,

Maybe the battery in the keyfob is low (after using it through several years) ?
Just an idea.

Try repositioning the antenna wire that sometimes helps.

Here's an idea. It's probably a 1/4 wavelength antenna. So, making it exactly twice as long could help, or 4 times as long. Other lengths could make it worse.

PierroDisco - for the courtesy light issue - check Fuse 6 on Satellite block 2. If that is still intact the courtesy lights are probably not coming on because one of the door sensors are not connecting and need to be replaced (one for each door + the far back door).
