I'm looking to fabricate something like this out of my airbox. I agree this is def not an offroad application. I will be cleaning this filter 2x a month min. just using as a DD.

For those of you who have done this mod, just wondering if over the long term your mpg's have stayed higher? This of course assumes all other things being equal, no other mods or maintenance.

Also, have you needed to clean your MAF and throttle body more often than before the mod? This of course assumes you cleaned them before.

Thanks,

I put one on and 4 tanks later I've seen no change in mpg so the stock air box is going back on.

Still no issues with mine. I'm getting about 2 mpg increase. For me the increased throttle response and power has me convinced.

I don't watch the mileage that much. The difference in low end torque and throttle response alone is enough for me. I have a little less restrictive exhaust (magnaflow) so I think I see the improved performance a bit more than with standard exhaust and standard air box.

More air = more power which is what I got. No increased gas mileage and my engine didn't exactly like the increased air flow and colder air. I put my stock air box back on and I'm getting 13 mpg with mix driving and my engine is happier now

Ditto. I'm stuck at 11.5 mpg.

I drive 200 miles per day, mostly highway, so I am always looking for ways to improve gas mileage. I've played around with this for the past 3 months, and it does help a little, on average about 1.5mpg and noticeably more power.... Well, less sliggishnes anyway. But at the end of the day, what makes the improvement is removing the air restriction at the input to the system, and there is a simpler and less invasive way to do that - just yank the trumpet. A lot cheaper too. With the lame air velocity these old dogs suck in the Venturi effect and air acceleration theory doesn't hold up, and a small hole is simply a small hole. With the trumpet removed, Mann paper filter, Magnaflow exhaust, and mid grade gas I'm averaging 19.5 with 75% highway driving. spectre gave the same results, so why risk clogging up the MAF

I don't think pulling the snokus/venturi thing does much expect make the intake louder.
