Default Would you buy for $5,500

Hello all,

I am looking into this truck. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto...045215714.html

What do you guys think? It’s about a 4 hour drive for me to look at it.

My first guess is it’s a good deal at $5,500. But i am skeptical as it looks super clean.

Drivers rear pillar looks smashed up, grill guard looks bent and missing drivers headlight guard. No pics of the dash. Id be cautious and give it a good in person inspection

$2,500 maybe.

It has some cosmetic bruising. Need to see the dash area. Undercarriage. Headliner. Seats. Floorboards. SE’s didn’t come with wood paneling on the doors, so those are aftermarket. Definitely would want to see it in person and get records of the work done.

The LAND ROVER lettering on the front of the hood look new. They all faded over 20 years unless garage kept the entire time. Could have been repainted.

I think the price is fair for a Cali smog passing truck. Mileage is about 6300 miles per year I'd offer $5k. The pillar wrinkle effected the rear quarter at the belt line near seam, slight depression. Some of the owners claims are overly grandiose, the Defender wheels for instance, they where standard for every SD Disco from 96 through 99. Safari pack? Lol. The brush guard is a fog light holder. It's the first Disco for sale I've seen with the rear step actually in it's retracted position, that's a plus in my book. No picture of the drivers seat and it has the original overflow tank which needs to be updated.

Mileage shouldn't ever really be the selling point of any vehicle. It's all about how it's been maintained/driven. I've seen 18K 2019 rental cars in worse shape than some 25 year old LR's with 300K on them.

Prices for D1/D2's are going up because good rust free examples are starting to become a thing of the past. With some body work, and TLC that D1 could look very good! It's also all original minus that wood trim on the doors. You could pay 2K for a D1 that won't pass smog, has mechanical issues, and rust. Then dump 3K into it quickly and it could take a while to get it all done or you can pay 5.5K and enjoy it now.

Seller says “ BRAND-NEW” complete headliner....but there is something funky going on.

If you are going to buy it, do your due diligence and look it over. Ask questions. And negotiate the asking price based on what you find. Take photos and post them here if you go see it, maybe we can look it over.

That headliner sagging is right under the rear sunroof drain tubes as well...

Could be non updated pics in the ad as well. Some people are not very smart at advertising or updating their For Sale items.
