Default 02 Disco II- Yes or No?

Here is the deal, am planning to close a deal soon. Found a 2002 Disco II, 59k and the cost is $15000. All services were done from Dealership, paperwork provided, ran a report with Carfax, did get into a minor accident, everything was repaired. The accident was bumper to bumper, the repairs were mostly external. I have even spoken with the owner of the Auto Body Shop who serviced this vehicle, referred by Land Rover Dealership in Dallas, TX. Everything looks good. Current owner purchased this car because of its look, never took it to off road and barely knows how to use some of the function in the car. He took care of the car; all oil changes were done by the dealership, internal condition is good, no major damage. I brought it to the Mechanic for check-up, found three items:
• Rear brake pads need to be replaced-soon.
• Exhaust has a crack, but not near cat, shouldn’t interfere with smog check.
• (Main Concern) Found some oil near crankshaft.

The 60K is coming up and looks like tires need to be replaced next year. Since you guys are Land Rover owners for years and some might even work on your own car, do you think this is a deal? I’ve thought of purchasing extended warranty for this vehicle, but dealership does not often, have to look else where. Please help and advise

if you do go through with it. See if the seller wil do the 60K mile service before hand. It'll save you a wad of cash, this is a major service time for the discos.

The oil on the crankshaft is a anti-rust treatment.
And I drove very little at 110 mph mostly at 120 or
so just to keep up with everyone here in Dallas. J.K.[sm=bs.gif]

You will find that Rovers leak a little oil.
And in Dallas most people do just drive them on
road just poseurs they think it gives them status.
We have 5 million people here and 60 in the rover club.

if you can afford it-go for it. I just purchased an 02 disco II and love it. I did have to replace pads and rotors to the tune of 1300.00, but I still love this truck!
