Default 03 disco

My first disco was a 95 with 98k on it. Bought it from a private dealer and it was the worst vehicle in the history of man. It broke down almost every week. Now that I graduated college and can afford something nicer I was looking into the 03 discoveries. Everyone tells me I'm crazy for even considering another one. Since the 03's had many upgrades including a new engine, are they a lot more reliable than previous years? What is the general consensus about the 03's? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

So what are you planning on using the truck for? You can't even begin to compare a 95 D1 to a 03 D2, hugh difference. As for the larger engine, it is the same block, designed back in 1962 for Buick, just has a slightly longer stroke and some much needed increase in power.
You will be quite pleased with an 03 unless you plan on modifying it for heavy off road use with lockers. Rover changed out the t/case so they can't be locked up like the older model, giving the less ability off road. If you want to play hard look at an early 01 or a 2004, both of which will have the locking ability.
Any questions, just shout.

mike,

it will be a daily driver. I took my 95 off road a lot. Learned my lesson: Dont take your daily driver off-road. you cant lock the differentials on the 03? How bad does the off-road performance suffer?

It doesn't suffer that bad, the trck comes with electric traction control that does an OK job.
For what it is worth, mine is a daily driver and I am pretty hard on her and she has held up real well.
Yes you are correct, lockers won't work with an 03, but it sounds like you are not going to have any problems doing what you may off road.
