100,000 mile disco II SE
I am a new Land Rover owner (Range Rover 08) but I am also considering buying a 2001 Disco II SE with 99,000 miles. I am curious if anyone can shed any light on whether this is a good idea or not. I love the Disco and this is a good deal. Anyone think of any reason why I shouldn't buy a high mileage vehicle. I am going to be putting some good mileage on it and maintaining it well and adding some stuff (lights racks, bars etc.) . Input appreciated.

morning Mike, I would be using it for work, I drive some pretty long miles, as well as time in Colorado- no major off roading in my sites maybe some mild stuff. I will sit on top of the maintenance, anything jump out at you that I should check out of the gates? I just don't want to get stranded on the road. I plan to buy a code reader so I know what's and I will use any advise you give. With good maint. how many more miles til I need to replace something major?

Probably pick it up for about 5-5.5. Is there a ballpark on cost to do everything I need done - not at dealer- I have a good reasonable shop- I will probably do some things myself- I am a fixer and don't mind working on my vehicles. I just wouldn't to head gasket, drive shaft, send me your service when you have a minute and I can review it. I just need to know a rough $$ figure to budget for. Thanks Mike

head gasket job $$
Things that may need attention if not yet done would be head gasket, usually a 1 time event, rebuilding the front drive shaft, if not yet done to make all u-joints greaseable and my service list, which I will send you when you get ready.
How much are they asking for the D2?
