Default 16" vs 18"

We have a 2000 Discovery with the 16" rims and Michelin XPC's. The tires have about 16000 miles on them. Our in-laws our giving us their 2003 Discovery. It has 18" rims with stock Goodyear tires and about 16000 miles. As part of the "deal" we will be giving my sister-in law the 2000 Discovery. I have considered swapping the rims and tires before we trade vehicles. Does anyone have any input on which would be best? It is mainly freeway and in-town driving. Occasionaly on weekends we might go off road but not in a serious way. Just a short trip down a dirt road or a scenic bypass. We live in an area that usually gets alot of snow and ice in the winter (not this year[:-]). I am not worried about the look, I want what would be best for comfort, safety, etc. My wife and kids spend alot of time in the car.

Thanks

Keep the 16" wheels for your self, they are less expensive to buy tires for, the tires last longer, ride smoother and you get a better selection of tires and tread designs to pick from.
Good luck with your 03.
