Default 1997 Discovery with a miss?

This will be my first Discovery purchase so I wanted to ask for advice. Have found a 1997 with 115K and what the owner calls a bad miss. He says that the Disco cruises well at 70 mph but he can tell that there is a miss when accelerating. He has been told that it may be a bad exhaust valve.

What do you think? This will be my first purchase and I will be working on and learning from this Disco.

Thanks for any responses.

It could be a number of things probably needs a good tuneup with magnacors and new plugs. How much does he want for this truck?

He's a dealer and says that it was a bank repo so I'm guessing he just bought it at auction. I don't think he wants to mess with what he thinks is a miss and is letting it go.

That's not a bad price for a 97 with 115k miles. I would buy it and go through the 60k service list at the top of the forum immediately. The valve could just be carboned up an the seafoam induction cleaning may take care of the problem. For $1500 you can put some money into the truck before you get to what the truck is really worth provided the rest of the truck is in condition.
