2000 D2 question
I was just looking at craigslist and found a 2000 D2 for sale. After reading a bunch of posts on here I am confused as to whether a 2000 has the CDL or if it would have to be installed? Do the D2's without CDL still have a low range on the transfer case? I really am interested in this 2000 but don't have a lot of extra money to throw at it to match what I already have in my 97. Is there anything else that I should look for in 2000 model when I go to test drive it?

RE: 2000 D2 question
I am not sure what years have the CDL lever or not. Yes all DII's have a low range t-case and most have the CDL, just not the lever.
As what to look for, the double cardon u-joint on the front driveshaft. You want one with grease fittings. If it doesnt have them then you want to rebuild the driveshaft ASAP.

RE: 2000 D2 question
I know that this is an old thread but now that I'm home from work and I see the 2000 D2 I was interested in is still listed I am going to go look at it tomorrow. Aside from the things that have already been mentioned, is there anything specific that I should look for?
This is the listing for craigslist for the vehicle: http://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/802257416.html
Anything anyone sees please let me know so I can check it out when I'm inspecting and test driving it. This is at the same dealer I bought my 97 from and have had good luck with it so feel comfortable buying from them again.

RE: 2000 D2 question
Drive it more than just around the block just to see if it will throw any codes or if the 3 amigos pop up; take it over some rough roads and check for any unusual rattles etc. Ask for car fax report and maintenance receipts OR contact info for previous owner. The front driveshaft has non-lube u joints so pay special attention to any vibration in the drive train. Check to see if cruise control works (it is vacuum operated and tedious to track down any vacuum leaks). Check operation of CD changer located under passenger seat. Check operation of all heat/air controls (all controls actually) and seat heaters. Look underneath and in engine bay for any signs of leaking after driving (plus look under vehicle before you drive off to see if there are any spots on the ground). That's all I can think of at the moment....
