Default 2000 D2 with random dieing issue

I found a 2000 D2 on craigslist pretty cheap but the seller says it will randomly die while driving. The said it will go a few days with no problems at all then out of nowhere the engine will die while driving. They said once it does die if you let it sit for a couple of min it will start up and drive fine. Without first hand experience behind the wheel what do you more experienced rover owners think it could be? I was thinking crank sensor or fuel pump.

Looks like a fairly simple repair if it is the crank sensor. Now I just need someone to buy my M3 so I can get another D2.
