Default 2000 Discovery with ACE acting strange

Last week had to go through about 18" of water repeatedly as heavy rains flooded the entrance to my son's neighborhood. So I calmly drove through the water, offering to pull out all the other cars/trucks that had stalled out. Only a few grateful takers.

Anyway, 2 days after this, the ACE light on the dash came on after start up and stayed on in amber. This past Saturday, no light on startup, but a real "knocking" sound when going slowly over some bumps in a parking lot, then the amber ACE light came back on, no knocking sounds. It has done this about 3 times in the past week. The knocking sounds are like a loose sway bar but goes away when the ACE light comes on.

Any thoughts anyone? I haven't written in a while because the truck is running great!!! You guys are excellent with answers so I thought I'd run this one by you.

Thanks in advance.

Mine had the same issue about two years ago.
I pulled the filter at the valve block then for about a week straight i would suck the fluid out of the reservoir and replace with new every day after work just make sure you don't start it with the reservoir empty

Pretty sure you have 2 separate issues.
Bet you have never serviced the ACE and it is long past do.
As for the noise, probably time to crawl under the truck with a good socket set and breaker bar, time to tighten up every bolt and nut you can see.
What about your front drive shaft, has it ever been rebuilt, do you lube the 4 u-joints and 2 slip shafts at least twice a year?

Mike--

What's involved with servicing the ACE system? Where exactly is the filter that the others have mentioned? Would this info be in the RAVE information? I have replaced the front drive shaft with one from Lucky 8 (Tom Wood's replacement) and very dutifully grease it.

I will get under the truck with a socket set and retighten everything.

The Ace filter is located in the valve block, the valve block is mounted under the passenger side of your truck on the frame rail. The filter is located behind a large nut/cap on the botton of the valve body. You will then carefully pull the filter out I think it is tapped for a 4mm bolt ? I think I used a dental pick. Clean it with your favorate brake clean/contact cleaner dry it and reinstall. But check the Rave as to the exact procedure.

PM me your number and I can walk you thru servicing the ACE.
How about your drive shaft, has it been replaced and lubed time a year?

Question ACE part 2 - My truck may be possessed!!!

On start up, the ACE light is off, I go about 2-3 blocks, and what I thought was a clunking noise from below, was actually the hydraulics rocking the truck back and forth, from right to left. When this first happened, I thought I was going over a rough patch of road. but today when pulling out of the bank, it was rocking left to right at about 30 mph. Suddenly, the amber ACE light came on and everything stopped. The driveshaft is a new Tom Woods, all the bolts below are good and tight. What has possessed my ACE unit and how do I remove the demon???

Be a whole lot more specific cause it is doubtful you went thru 18"s of water and experienced the same fault lights/codes.
