Default 2001 disco !! HDC question

I recenty found this site and I think it is great.

does this sound familiar?

My HDC light, the green one, not the amber one, flashes and beeps when depressed. in any gear, including with the T/C in low and the tranny in first.

anti locks are working and no warning lights are lit up.n no three amigos, nothing.

is my only recourse is to have the codes read?

any other ideas.

90,000 miles and has always run great. most of the maint has been done by LR. in 04 the HDC came on and it turned out to be the right front whell sensor.

thanks, Jay

Does it continuously beep AND flash the entire time its depressed? It should only chime a couple times when initiated but go away and the only thing you should here are the wheels braking. THEN when you deactivate HDC, you will hear it chime again.

Don't drive with you button depressed, that is what it is trying to tell you.
You might want to read your owners manual, COVER to COVER so you have a better understand of your truck and it's functions.

I don't understand your reply, you don't what?? Run with the button depressed, if that is the case, you may have a bad switch.

Here you say the button is pressed/engaged, make up your mind, are you trying to use the HD when in hiogh range or not? It only is designed for off road in low range only, per the owners manual.

Just a little side note: HDC does NOT work in reverse.

Not sure how to repair your situation, but it sounds like the system is acting like it does when the button is pushed while the truck is going too fast. You sound like you understand this, but my son got in the driver seat one day in a parking lot right after I bought my D2 and pressed the button without me noticing. The flashing and beeping freaked me out when we drove away!

Possible speed sensor issue? Maybe the system thinks the truck is going too fast.

Best of luck.

Strange my owners manual says HDC WILL work in reverse - UNLESS you touch the brakes or some such thing to cancel it out. There is another thread on here somewhere about this subject.

I would suggest you take your rig out to some puddy hill and try it - it doesn't have to be Everest to try it out.

Cheers

Robert
