Default 2002 Discovery Series II SD7

I am thinking about purchasing 2002 Discovery Series II SD7 w/rear seat package & cold climate package. It has 89,000 miles and they are asking for $6,900. They are the second owner and no accident. I haven't looked at it yet since they live 1 1/2 hrs away from my house.

We just moved toIL and it 's going to start snow verysoon. We have 2 kids so 7 passenger seats will be very helpful.

Do you think it's a good deal? If I were to take a look at this car, what should I look for?

I would really appreciate all your input.

Thank you!!

trucks worth upper $5k's , the dealer probably bought it for around $4k. You know premium 91+ octane gas, oil changes 3k miles, schedualed matnince and such right?

otherwise yeah there the funnest trucks out there, there great in the snow, and the best off road. Also great for the chicagoan's weekender commutes to lakes in "up north" Wisconsin. - theres dealers up here for all your needs!

Dont expect to buy a honda, the reliability isnt the best, but if you take care of it, doing preventitive matnice, its no less reliable then a ford, chevy, or jeep.

having just purchased a 04se myself i can tell you to make sure everything works,,

make sure the regualar maintnance has been kept up with.

make sure it drives and tracks well. listen for weird or goofy sounds.

get under it and even if you do not know what you are looking for or at. if something seems odd or weird, ask questions. if you get a squirrely answer, walk.

so far i have had my 04 a week. it is not a daily driver so it only has about 150 miles since i bought it. but it also is in the shop having new ujoints installed as a preventative measure.

beyond that, i love the rig and enjoy driving it.

happy hunting

Do searches for the following:
3 amigos
head gaskets
new owner or looking to buy
rebuilding the front drive shaft
DiscoMike's 60k service list

Take note of any dash lights that are illuminated. Do you have access to an OBDII scanner? If not rent one and take it with you. Write down any codes and report them back here. The '02 does not have CDL (Center Differential Lock), just the TC (Traction Control). Do some good research here and ask a lot of questions before jumping on a truck.
