Default 2003 Disco II value with rusted frame

I live on the ocean and just discovered that my frame is so rusted that the shop is afraid to put it on their lift. It won't pass inspection.

It was just repainted last year, looks great, never had an accident, new pads and rotors a few months ago. Does need head gaskets, valve cover gaskets. 97k miles. Green.

The dealer said they'd give me $500 for trade-in. Can someone give me a ball park on it's actual worth as a parts car for someone?

Thanks,

Marty

To actually answer your question, salvage value would be around $1000 give or take.

The rest depends on if you have the space and ability to dismantle and sell the parts yourself. A good running used 4.6 must have some value. A good tranny would be of value to someone who found out why to upgrade their front propshaft. Etc. on down to your tires and wheels, seats, headlliner.... intact front bumper plastic...

do some auto parts shopping on craigslist and see what others are selling for and go from there.

Disco 2 Chassis rot disco 2 - Land Rover Zone

There is also a guy on discoweb that lives in the UK that is helping his son do some repairs to a D2 chassis. He said for his own truck he's got a spare chassis.

You could buy a new frame.
Labor would be excessive.

The engine running will be worth $1k to 2.5k at least - depending on
who needs it.

I would spend $1,000 on a blown up engine rover - one where the engine is toast.

Put your engine into that rover.

:

Right if you have the room you could take off all the high failure items and keep them for reserve!!! Then you can help all your rover guys/gals out when something fails on there's! The job jets done faster and they may know little secrets that make the job less of a pain or vise versa. Either way two or three pairs of hands move things right along.
You have them help you and you help them when something fails it works out well. On second thought if your going to keep the high failure items you better keep the whole damn thing. . Lmao seriously though.

I want to see what driving in all the sand and ocean surf does to a car!

In the future, no matter what you drive, if you drive through the ocean get a full service automatic carwash after with a full underbody flush.
And if you are going to drive on the salt flats of Utah...rent a car, dont take yours.

The dealer is going to send it to a auto recycler, they will pay them about $1500 for it, they dont care about the frame all the care about is the engine, trans, diffs, t-case, interior, glass, window regulators...after about 6 months whatever is left will be crushed and made into soup cans.
