2003 Discovery Headlight Assembly Screws Broken

2003 Discovery II headlamp assembly issue - I CAN'T REMOVE EITHER ONE!!!!
Parking lamp out on the right side. Decided to change it as another drive was coming up. Simple procedure. However, all the top screws were rather tight and when they finally turned, I believe the securing nut or something turned with them. Consequently, I cannot get the assembles off for any maintenance. Other then these screws (same problem on both sides), the headlamp assemblies are perfect!
How to I tackle this problem? I thought of taking it to the dreaded LR Dealer but figured his answer would be to replace the headlight assembles at $500 each plus labor AND the light bulb.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
