Default 2003 Versus 2004, you decide...

So, right now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place on whether or not to get a 2004.

I understand that the 04 has the locking CDL and I think I might want that when I'm driving up into the mountains with all of the snow. (I do crazy things with my vehicles in the snow).

Will I be able to tell a difference with a 2003 that does not have a center locking CDL and a 2004 that has the option?

What do you guys think... Let me know if you have experienced the difference and if it truly is noticeable is FAIRLY rough conditions (I'm not talking about climbing walls in this thing, but I will be going through 10" or more of snow, up and over rocks/dips/etc. when I drive up to trailheads in the mountains).

Thanks for your input!

yes you will notice,,,

the difference between having a CDL and not saved my butt several times in the snows this past winter. im like you i use my rover off road and it shocks the hell out of people around here. they see my rig all muddy or up on the trails when i have slid it off of trails up in the mountains. people take pics and say "i now have proof that people off road their rovers" hahaha

being able to lock the center diff helped out a lot on the few places i needed it. but without it i would have been getting a tow out for sure.

like i said in my reply to you in the other thread,,, get what you really want even if you have to stretch a little.

there is a reason you see many 03's for sale and few 04's. people who buy a 04 typically bought it for a reason and know what the rig is and they specifically sought to buy a 04. it not just because it has the new style headlamps hahahaa. it is because it was the best at that point that LR had put out of the factory. a perfect balance of pretty truck and trail *** kicker =) get a 04 phil. you will kick yourself in the end if you do not.

There is plenty of difference and that being the case, the decision is yours.

This is a rhetorical question, the answer is going to be yes, you'll feel a huge difference with the CDL on the 04's .

So make up your mind already and go buy an 04, show us some pictures too. While your at it, name your Disco, and go wading across a river.

04, hands down, no contest. The CDL is immeasurably useful on and off road.

The reason that I ask is because I can get an 03 with 80k for $5300 or I can get an 04 with the same mileage for $8k...

Thats the difference and I really want to know if I will be getting my money's worth.

I'm an economics major and for me everything has to make sense financially... haha... SO, yes... of course you will say the 04 is better than the 03...

BUT is the 04 $2500 better than the 03...

I guess that is more of the question...

Thanks guys, your answers DEFINITELY are swaying me right now...

Send me a e-mail, I have some questions for you about the field and career outlook.
I am looking to start college for this field...maybe.

Point out every tiny little (insignificant, usually) flaw in the 04 and I bet you could talk them down to 7k, making it well worth it imo.
