Default 235/85 or 245/75R16 on 16x8 DII wheels?

A quick question for you all: Can a 245/75R16 tire (Goodyear MT/R or similar) fit on a 16x8 Disco II wheel without problems?

Rubbing is not an issue. I installed 1 inch spacers and will replace the worn out coils with OME medium duty units. My concern is most tires in that size are rated for a 7.5 inch wide wheel. Does the extra 0.5 inch make a difference? I want to run this particular size for the E load rating. Thanks for any thoughts.

Cheers,

Pete

I put on a pair of Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos on my rig Monday in that exact size on the same rim. It really hasn't made a noticeable difference from the stock.

Good to hear. I am also considering 235/85R16 if the new OME springs raise the vehicle enough. I am also planning on new driveshafts front and rear. The 235/85's are nearly 32 inches tall. Is it too much? I would appreciate the extra ground clearance off road along with tougher sidewalls. BFG MT's are at the top of my list right now. Of course with a tire that much taller than stock I'll lose some "power" on the road (not that my Rover is fast to begin with).

Here is the link to the spring kit I am considering.

I had my 245/75/R16's before the 2" lift was installed and had no issues with rubbing. If you want E load rated tires you may want to consider getting the HD springs instead of the Med duty ones. I also found the at that other site.

I assume the OME springs Atlantic British is selling are not designed to lift the vehicle. I expect another inch of lift replacing the saggy stock springs, which would total 2 inches of lift with my spacers.

Would new HD springs from AB along with my 1 inch spacers be enough for 235/85R16's? I want to make sure before I purchase anything. Although I like my Grabber AT2's, they just are not holding up to rock crawling. They seem to be wearing out very quickly for the off roading I do.

Cheers,

Pete

It might be best to get in contact with Tony or Frank at Cerrone's. Your spring choice should be determined by what you intend to do with your vehicle in terms of off roading or towing. They have better prices on the parts and will get you what you need.

I would recommendyou run 265/70-16 on a 16X8 inch wheels. they are the same diameter as a 245/75 or 1/4inch tallerat the mostbut are a little fatter. I run that size in General Grabber at/2 on 16X8 RR wheels.

I ran a 305/70R16 on my Dodge factory 16x8 wheels without any problems so the tires your looking at will work fine on a wheel that size.

I want a tire with the E load rating. The 265/70R16 tires usually do not come with a load rating that high. I plan to do some light towing in addition to off roading in the mountains. My Grabber AT2's load rating is a little low and the tires bulge significantly when I'm off road and on two wheels. Would 235/85R16 put too much a strain on my high mileage axles? I drive very slowly and avoid abusive driving on or off road.

Cheers,

Pete
