250K Mileage Disco 2 run away, or run forever?

All my old LR's including my 95 D1 = 98% of all original equipment works. Cruise control ecu is out on the 95, but I plan on the D2 cc brain swap eventually (never use CC to be honest). Only other factory item which is INOP on all my D1/D2's = headlight squirters as I have aftermarket front bumpers like a TF & TJM for example so I deleted that option. All other electronic stuff from locks, windows, sunroofs, radio, speakers, alarm, and all lights = all works.
Just cause the odometer list 250k or more doesn't mean it's dead or anywhere near it. If u find a LR with over 200k there is no doubt it has been taken care of. Heck a LR with **** poor maintenance can make 100k....
Several of my now good friends instantly fell in love with my Kalahari and we did several trips in it. Then one day I let em drive it & they asked why my odometer showed 237k. I said because she's done that!! They said oh man as good as this D2 looks and drives I figured it barely had 100k on it!
Bottom line if it's setup like you want, it isn't a rust bucket, the dash isn't lit up like Apollo 13, it drives good, and you like it = BUY IT.
The one thing I've learned is life is short and sure you could buy a 1k wonder and fix it up over the next year to 2 years, or you could slap the cash down, get behind the wheel and instantly enjoy it & go have fun with it!!
I'd shoot for 7.5k see if they'll take it and go from there. Sure beats an overpriced Jeep or new vehicle anyday IMHO.

Well, for better or worse the seller backed out of ... whatever I was doing.
I asked for three things: test drive, smog cert (required for sale in CA), and I wanted to get a Pre-Purchase Inspection (near his house at a Indy shop) that I would pay for ($200). To me that's a sign of commitment on my part. I though is was reasonable considering the mileage. Plus I've never owned a LR before so any caution exercised seems smart.
Originally he agreed but today he bailed.
It's about to go live on an auction site, and the owner would prefer to sell it that way.
Obviously still needs a smog cert.
The universe is telling me something. And I'm going to listen.
I didn't want black anyway. :-D

And don't be afraid of a $1k wonder if things check out. I just did that this summer and I'm in it under $3k and it runs and drives great (bulk of that cost was lift and tires, swapped out all cooling parts upon purchase...)
edit: check the what have you done today thread for pics, wife just got back from Moab with it and drove home through CO in a real bad snow storm with zero issues.

Agreed. One of mine is 130k and the other 160k miles. MPG never crossed my mind as I know it's bad and frankly I don't give a sh*t lol, bought them bc I liked them and both are lifted with big tires so efficiency was never a deciding factor. Gotta pay to play and to me these are toys and if looking for long haul daily drivers then might look elsewhere. That said I'd still drive either of mine anywhere and plan on driving the green one from Denver to VA for the holidays this year.
